  • Manager, Legal1 position

    1. Manager, Legal

     

    Job Purpose

    Jobholder is expected to provide guidance and advice on straightforward to moderately complex issues within their own area of legal specialism whilst delivering advice to the required standards expected of his/her grade.

     

    Key Result Areas

    1. Responds to straightforward requests for advice both in verbal and written form.
    2. Interprets straightforward specialised legal issues and offers advice in such a way as to offer a solution or solutions to the particular problems or issues.
    3. Liaises with relevant internal departments to identify issues where legal advice is required.
    4. Works with relevant internal departments to raise awareness of the need to ask for and receive legal advice.
    5. Applies organizational policy and procedures in providing professional legal guidance and support to colleagues and internal clients.
    6. Works with seniors to improve own professional capability and knowledge.
    7. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating legal contracts and documents that are under BEDB.
    8. May hold responsibilities of higher level position from time to time.

     

    Qualification and Experience

    The jobholder should minimally possess the following:-

    1. Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor in Law from a recognized university located in a common law country with a 2:2 equivalent grade or higher;
    2. At least five (5) years’ sound relevant knowledge and experience in advising, negotiating and drafting of legal documents;
    3. Independent and motivated personality with ability to regularly work beyond normal working hours;
    4. Excellent drafting, negotiation and presentation skills; and
    5. Demonstrate strong leadership and decision making skills.

     

    Preferred Candidate:

    Candidates with any or all of the following are preferred:

    1. Completion of a solicitors legal practice course, bar professional training course or equivalent;
    2. Experience in cross border transactions;
    3. At least two (2) years’ experience in any of the following areas of law:
      • Project and infrastructure (particularly delivery/construction);
      • Energy and resources; and
      • Business and company transactions.

  • Executive Officer, Legal1 position

     

    1. Executive Officer, Legal

     

    Job Purpose

    This level of work involves the provision of legal support in general areas following and quoting established legal concepts and primarily providing support for day to day operations.

    Key Result Areas

    1. Perform and support contractual reviews by providing basic legal advice in all general areas of law in the BEDB’s operations.
    2. Undertake any tasks & responsibilities assigned by the Head of Unit.
    3. Basic legal documentation review and preparation.
    4. Drafting simple legal documents.
    5. Conducting legal research and analysis to support supervisor/ legal team relating to any legal issues and execution of legal content projects.
    6. May hold responsibilities of any or higher level position from time to time.

     

    Qualification and Experience

    The jobholder should minimally possess the following:-

    1. Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor in Law from a common law country with a 2:2 equivalent grade or higher;
    2. At least one (1) year relevant knowledge and experience in advisory and drafting of legal documents;
    3. Independent and motivated personality with ability to regularly work beyond normal working hours; and
    4. Competent drafting, negotiation and presentation skills.

     

    Preferred Candidate:

     

    Candidates with any or all of the following are preferred:
    1. Completion of a solicitors legal practice course, bar professional training course or equivalent;
    2. Experience in cross border transactions;
    3. Experience in any of the following areas of law:
    1. Project and infrastructure (particularly delivery/construction);
    2. Energy and resources; and
    3. Business and company transactions.
